Sammy Kar: tell your parents this is impossiblehave a family meeting with the teacher that gave you this workwith the principle present
Claudio Drullard: Sorry I should've been more specific..I dont actually have to MAKE an invention but i need to draw it out and explain what it does to help the environment.Examples of simple machines: LeverInclined PlaneWheel and AxleScrewWedgePulley...Show more
David Kuper: Do you need to actually invent a new technology or, compile/kludge a couple of things together? Do you have to have a working model, in which case heft/size/weight and cost are a factor, or can you make your invention on paper? When you speak of "machines", I think in terms of 3 different pieces of equipment; each with its own power source....uuuumph, out in the real world, transportation of input (materials and supplies) to a value added process and transportation of output (a product) can be problematic. By combining an mechanized input system with ! a value added system and an mechanized output or packaging system you will have all three of your required elements. In "small" systems (this is a relative term) rollers, slides, belts, and wheeled carts are often used to transport items; some of these are people powered, manually powered through a turn crank, or powered through the use of a motor. - These issues are all the more visible as an individual working in a yard, working on-site beyond the immediate area around a parking lot, and most definitely some place where you have to pack everything in! Still, if you look at a number of recycling centers, they use rollers, shakers, belts, water, and magnets to do a lot of their sorting for them. Does this give you any ideas? - Speaking of which, what level are you in school and just how much must your invention actually apply to generating a healthier, Georgian environment for future generations? - If it has to be honestly big, you might want to look into something like! Cedar Grove Composting in Wa; sewage plant methane production! in Maricopa, Az; or some of the similar methane production systems associated with animal waste sludge ponds. Usually, I'm full of ideas but, this one is different with its three machines and the betterment of the State of Georgia criteria.... Air quality implies the sucking in of air for testing or cleaning, the sampling or cleaning of air, and then the explusion of air....When I think of water conservation, I think of passive systems, using the water's flow energy, and valves rather than machines. (How about a valve system that one could use to divert household waste water at its source to a holding tank and then siphon off using gravity for use in the yard? For example, it would allow the home owner to decide which washing machine water to divert, which dish washer cycle to divert, or which sink water to divert simply by turning a valve on the house side of the wall. Alll of this would use fluid dynamics or gravity with respect to the drop of the piping to work which! would include math and physics. You would want a system that is easy and inexpensive to install, a back flow regulator or two, and maybe even a filtering system or cleaning capability. This has no machines but, it does have three systems that must work in concert with each other.) .... Wildlife managment indicates habitat or actual animal counting, culling, or capture....Hazardous waste disposal indicates the nuetralizing of hazardous waste, the handling and transport of hazardous waste, the containment of hazardous waste, or the redirection of one person's hazardous waste into another's input stream for more complete use....Land protection and errosion makes me think of the installation of structures, changing the curvature and/or elevation of the land, or planting vegetation. I can think of a number of examples but, not one that would particularly be enhanced by a device made of three different machines....Renewable energy sources makes me think of how the wind, water,! sewage, or some other bio-mass can be utilized to power a machine, gen! erate electricity, or generate heat. There are a lot of systems out there, the question is how much must be of your own design and how you combine three machines into your invention. These are my ideas...does your instructor have any acceptable examples to share with you?...Show more
