Inell Riesgo: I have an Ooma and it works great. It hooks up to your internet connection-not a computer and not a landline-so it's always on. You just plug a regular old phone into it. However, calling to or from England is still going to cost, whoever makes the call, money. but it would be cheaper than the cell phone charges. (Calls to US numbers are free) You could also buy your daughter an Ooma. She would then have a US phone number in which case calls would be free. This sounds complicated, I know. Tosha Tawney: the cost for calling a skypeOUT number (as it is known) that is in the same area code as you costs the same as a local call would (ie, ringing someone in your local area's landline from your landline)also, if you get free local calls as part of your landline package (like evenings and weekends etc) it probably wont cost you anything!skype is good, glad you found ithope it helpsjoe...Show! more
Warren Kotter: okay so let me get this right, even though he is overseas it doesnt matter because the phone number is local i wont get charged extra international fees for calling him (i know our phones doesnt charge extra for local calls)?
Raymundo Kyser: heres what i did for my own situation.i went to japan for a long period of time. wanted to talk to my family in the USA. got a skype USA phone number.that was it! good to go! i could call cell phones and house phones at no extra charge for me or them! just paid the flat rate to activate skype number. thankfully there is no international blocking of IP addresses and what not.it was pretty neat, quality was great also.best wishes for you and your husband. :) my cousin is stationed in germany for the airforce....Show more
