Ermelinda Stalnaker: did U read the ranking of Universities in Asia? The Philippines are far away from the top. No wonder. Just look at the inequalities here. Education is not 4 everybody due to the cost of it. What a waste of talents 4 this country! then the Us lead system of competition between schools and in the schools creates a 2 class system: The winners- the so called best..!- and the looser, who may be good, by the way! COOPERATION AND NOT COMPETITION SHOULD BE THE MOTTO! So U see college graduates hired as sales ladies by big Malls! What U study is not important..just have a college degree! any way the country relies more on the jobs abroad for OFWs than creating jobs here..well paid jobs!!...etc..Look at the scientific research too..Quite inexistent in the Philippines! A university w/o research is common here..but the richness of a country is due to research and science not from imitating..There is lot to be done in the Philippines..Where is the political will?! ...Show more
Rachell Meese: What kind of education exactly? Liberal arts? Engineering? Science? Law? medicine?Compared to the Ivy League universities in the US or the top 5 in the UK, I believe we have some fine universities here, too. The ones I am familiar with are the University of the Philippines, University of Sto. Tomas, Ateneo de Manila U, La Salle, and Philippine Women's U. However, there are many more schools that are excellent, depending on what field of study you intend to pursue....Show more
Alma Twomey: The quality really varies, like what your first answerer said. You should invest in a quality education in private institutions in the primary and secondary levels of schooling, although it is ironic that the second highest ranking university in the country is state-owned.In a nutshell,the educ sector isn't doing too good now, but, it could have been in a lower standard were it not for the help coming from private institutions and international aid, ! along with government's initiatives to improve textbooks and o! ther materials and the employees involved in the sector.
