How to do the laundry?

Ariel Arons: Sort your laundry. A simple sort of lights/white, and dark is fine. Don't wash anything that is made of silk, wool, or otherwise says to dry clean. (look in the tags) If you have any stains that you know about rub a teaspoon or so of your detergent in it to pre-treat it.Your washer should have a temperature selector. Just save yourself the hassle and pick cold. It is safest for your clothes, and for a beginner. Cold wash, cold rinse.Your washer should have a water level or load size selector. Pick largest. Again this is the safest setting for a beginner. Using less water than needed can damage your clothes or the washer, using more water than needed just gives them more room to swish around.Your washer has a load selector. Choose normal, everyday, or permanent press cycle. Usually what you do is pull the knob out and turn it where you want it to go, then push it in and the water will come on. Add the soap. Usually a cap ful of liquid, or a scoop full of powde! r. If you have a liquid fabric softener, it is easiest to use the downy ball. It has a plug that flies open when the washer starts to spin, which is perfect timing. Otherwise you have to CATCH the rinse cycle and add it. If your fabric softener is a dryer sheet, then don't worry about it now.Add the clothes. Do not over fill the washer...don't pack it in there, or fill it too close to the top. You should check when the water shuts off, the water should cover all the clothes, if not you have too much in there..Shut the lid...the washer will start. It should take about half hour. It will wash, empty the washer, rinse, then spin to really get the water out, then it will shut off.Pull the clothes out, and check any stains that you pre treated. If they didn't come out, don't dry it!Put your clothes in the dryer. Add a dryer sheet if you have any.Your dryer should have a heat selector, choose low or medium heat. Your dryer should have a cycle selector. If you want to come back af! ter a certain time, set it for 45 minutes. It will shut off at! that time. If you have an automatic cycle, select that. When it is done, the dryer will stop automatically. Then fold or hang your clothes.Between loads, clean the lint filter of your dryer. Sometimes it is in the inside lip of the door, On others it is on top of the machine. They work the same way, lift up and clear the screen, discard the lint and put the filter back in. Don't do this while the dryer is in use....Show more

Garry Ohmen: Okay so it depends on what kind of washing machine you have so ill just give you directions for both.Top load washer: Start the washer and let the water run for a while then add a cup of laundry detergent (the lid of the bottle is the best measurement to use) then add a cup of fabric softener (again the lid on the bottle works and usually has measurement lines on the inside) then add your clothes one at a time making sure you push each garment down into the water. Once all your clothes are in then close the lid on the washer. The was! her will take care of the rest. When the washer turns itself off take your clothes out and put them in the dryer. Make sure you clean out the lint trap before starting the dryer. It's usually on the inside right by the door. Then choose the medium heat setting and start the dryer. When the dryer stops take your clothes out. Front load washer:Put all your clothes in the washer and close the door. Open the soap dispenser (usually on the top left). Put a cup of detergent in the part that says "detergent" and put the fabric softener in the part that says "fabric softener" ignore the one that says "bleach". Close the dispenser and start the washing machine. The washer will do everything for you. When the washer is done put your clothes in the dryer using the same directions I gave you above. Good luck. It's a really easy thing to figure out....Show more

Marcelle Vanlith: Read the instructions like everybody ese.

Porfirio Cahall: Do you have a top loader or a front on! e ?It depends on how you wash too It will give you full instructions on! the box or container

Aubrey Tirri: It depends on the type of washer you are using. Also I'm glad my parents taught me how to wash my clothes because I am pretty shocked at the number of adults who don't know how to do laundry. First things first!Separate your laundry. Whites, Darks, Colorsyou don't want to damage or color any of your clothes. Most laundry mats have either top or front loading machines. I like using the front loading machines because the machines have the instructions on them to tell you what goes where and the type of load the machine holds. If you are doing a top loading washing machine:Usually in the laundry mats you put your clothes in first then put the detergent. You place the fabric softener at around the time it starts to rinse.for the front loading i would read the instructions since i don't know how the one you are using works. If you are still nervous there are people who run the place that can help you. Its better to be embarrassed and ask fo! r help than to ruin your clothes....Show more
